Martha Van den Bergh
(she/her)
BACKGROUND
Martha has been a doctoral researcher at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (SARLab) and the University of Antwerp (CRESC) since 2023. In her research, she studies the relational dynamics between volunteers and paid staff within non-profit organizations.
Her doctorate is part of the international WEAVE project, a collaboration between three doctoral researchers and their supervisors from WU Vienna, VUB, and the University of Antwerp. While her fellow researchers focus on the management of mixed workforces, Martha specifically focuses on the integration of volunteers into the professional domain at the micro level.
Before starting her doctorate, Martha obtained an educational bachelor's degree in early childhood education and subsequently completed her master's degree in Social Work at the University of Antwerp.
