Eva Vangilbergen

BACKGROUND
Eva Vangilbergen (born in 2003) has been affiliated since November 2025 as a doctoral researcher with the Faculty of École de Santé Publique at ULB and with the SARLab at VUB. She focuses on the theme of ageism in relation to health, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bram Vanhoutte and Prof. Dr. Liesbeth De Donder. Using an intersectional lens, she examines attitudes, stereotypes, and discrimination from multiple perspectives, including within the context of healthcare.
In June 2024, she obtained her Master’s degree in Sociology, following a Bachelor’s degree in Political and Social Sciences at KU Leuven. During the writing of her master’s thesis, she explored the field of medical sociology. Using a qualitative approach, she studied the strategic discourse of European Long COVID patient organizations.
