Astrid Verhue obtained a master’s degree in Oriental Languages at the ULB in 2022, followed by a master’s degree in Gender & Diversity (inter-university). In 2024, she joined the Society and Aging Research Lab (SARLab) as a doctoral researcher.

Her PhD centers on the concept of Death Literacy, a set of knowledge and skills that make it possible to gain access to understand and act upon end-of-life and death care options. She aims to develop an evidence-based conceptual model of the causal relationships between Death Literacy, its determinants, and outcomes, and to test this model in practice.

She is also a member of the End-of-Life Care Research Group and the Compassionate Communities Centre of Expertise (COCO).
