Renolab C

Omschrijving project

 The project Reno-Lab-C -Samen Renoveren (2017-2021) was part of the FEDER ‘Living Labs Brussels Retrofit’-program. These Living Labs aim to promote the renovation of Brussels housing and to provide room for experimentation and innovation.  

Reno-Lab-C aims at encouraging Brussels homeowners and tenants to renovate their homes in view of the European climate objectives. As certain people lack the means to renovate because of financial constraints, the administrative and practical burden, the difficult search for contractors, and so on, Reno-Lab-C searches for an approach that removes the barriers to renovation for owners and tenants.  

The project analyses the thresholds in the renovation process of residents and has organised home visits and consultation tables with residents. A number of residents have received guidance from the Buurthuis Bonnevie renovation advisers (a neighbourhood organisation) during their renovation process. Together, they developed a step-by-step plan to bring the renovation to a successful conclusion. Finally, the project developed the Rhizoom tool, a digital platform for housing management that collects all information and advice during the renovation process.
