Compassionate University

Project Description 

On 19 November 2019, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) signed a declaration of intent to become a Compassionate University, as the first university in Europe. The VUB aims to make everyone in the university community aware of the importance of support and compassion during times of serious illness, death, loss and long-term care. We aspire to be a pioneer with regards to the principles of a Compassionate University. In the Compassionate University core team representatives of Marketing and Communication, Human Resources Management, Student Guidance Center, the Rectorate, as well as some academics from the Compassionate Communities Center of Expertise (COCO), work towards a Compassionate University.
