BACKGROUND

Ann Claeys obtained her bachelor's degree in Nursing in 2003 and has obtained her master's degree in Gerontology in 2006. Her nursing experience is mainly focused on care for older persons, where she has worked in both intramural and extramural care institutions. She shares her extensive knowledge and experience as a lecturer in the professional Bachelor's program in Nursing at Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts. She currently works at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where she is conducting her doctoral research on the competencies of healthcare professionals in the field of diversity.

She has shared her insights as co-author of the 'Workbook on culturally sensitive care', a source of practical information for healthcare professionals who deal with care recipients from diverse backgrounds. In addition, she is co-author of the book 'Dementia in older people with a migration background', which discusses this specific topic in depth.
